Would you like to learn how to become a Beekeeper?

If so, why not enrol for our

Beekeeping for Beginners Course

If you're interested in learning to keep bees, Plymouth Branch offers a Beginners Course commencing March 2018, which not only teaches you the basics of beekeeping but is also relaxed and lots of fun.

The course is held at our teaching apiary at Lee Mill and consists of a total of 11 lessons.

The lessons will run on the second and fourth Sunday morning of each month from 10 am to 12 noon with each session structured to include 1 hour of theory and 1 hour practical experience (practical depends on weather conditions). We can lend you a bee suit so all you would need to bring along is a pair of wellingtons and some marigold gloves.

You will need to join Devon Beekeepers' Association, Plymouth Branch as a Registered member costing £37 but this subscription includes monthly magazines from the British Beekeeping Association and Devon Beekeepers plus a bi-monthly branch newsletter, public liability insurance, bee disease insurance and entitles you to attend both local and DBKA meetings.....but probably more importantly at this stage, we can provide all the help and support you will need to start your new hobby including advice about the purchase of bees.

Course Fee: £80 for 11 x 2 hour lessons and incudes the BBKA Book of Beekeeping. (concessions may be available for people on certain benefits; please ask if you think you might qualify).

If you would like more details or are interested in enrolling on our Beginners Course, please contact Jean French (Branch Secretary) by telephone or e-mail.
